MUSIC IS MY PASSION

I've been playing music for as long as I can remember. literally. I grew up in a small rural town, raised by a musical family, cutting my teeth on family jams and local blues bands before I hit my teens. Bass was my first love, but over the years I’ve picked up just about every stringed instrument I could get my hands on — and a few with keys and wires, too.

I write songs the old-fashioned way, sitting with an acoustic guitar or piano, chasing a good line or a strong chord change. But I’m never content to stay in the familiar. My influences span classic and psychedelic rock, art pop, indie folk, and experimental synth music that isn’t afraid to say something and take chances doing it. I tend toward the poetic, the philosophical, and the occasionally sardonic, especially when exploring darker themes.

These days, I split my time between teaching, offering online session work, and producing my second album, Songs from the Rust Belt. Whether I'm collaborating, writing, or mentoring new musicians, I try to bring the same spirit: curious, honest, and always looking for something a little left of center.
